EOD Magnometer

Explosive Ordnance Locator

The Magnetic Field Detector was developed for bomb disposal purposes and particularly for locating ferromagnetic explosives in the earth or at the bottom of inshore waters. It is also used for borehole detection work in cases where bombs have to be located at great depths or in severely disturbed search environments.

Method of operation:

The Magnetic Field Detector works on the basis of the gradiometer principle which allows detecting geomagnetic field interference. Ferromagnetic parts generate in their local environment a field of interference whose amplitude and polarity provide search data that can be evaluated to assist localization.

The Detector is equipped with a new developed inductor system with a base clearance of 430mm. The robust and water-tight design offers excellent long term constancy with regards to parallelism and tilting compensation. The Detector rod can be removed and used separately for bore hole detection work by using standard water resistant cable.
